Experience
& Credentials

Practical experience.
Commercial responsibility.
Professional standards.

My career spans more than two decades in construction, alongside extensive experience in property development, entrepreneurship and business ownership.

I began as an apprentice bricklayer before progressing into construction management, commercial responsibility and business leadership.

Today I am a Chartered Builder, property developer and Founder and Managing Director of Province Group, where I remain actively involved in the leadership and delivery of substantial private residential projects.

Chartered Builder

I am a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB). Province Group is separately a Chartered Building Company.

Chartered status represents professional recognition of competence, experience and commitment to standards within the built environment.

For me, it also reflects the importance of continued professional development alongside practical experience.

Construction experience

  • High-end residential construction

  • Major refurbishment, renovation and complex transformation

  • New-build residential projects

  • Pre-construction and buildability

  • Estimating and tender review

  • Project planning and programming

  • Procurement and supply-chain coordination

  • Commercial management

  • Cost, margin and cashflow awareness

  • Risk management

  • Contractor and specialist coordination

  • Working with architects, designers and professional consultants

  • Client communication and stakeholder management

  • Quality management

  • Business leadership

Business & commercial experience

  • Business formation and ownership

  • Entrepreneurship and growth

  • Leadership and management

  • Commercial strategy

  • Cashflow and working capital

  • Cost and margin control

  • Operational performance

  • Business structure

  • Risk and project selection

  • Growth management

  • Restructuring and recovery

  • Business rebuilding

  • Business transactions and sale experience

  • Working with professional advisers

The value of that experience is not the length of the list. It is the ability to see how the pieces interact. A project decision affects cash. Growth affects management capacity. Turnover can hide margin. A strong order book can create working-capital pressure. Commercial decisions eventually become operational realities.

Property & development

My property interests add another dimension to that experience: assessing opportunities, understanding construction feasibility, considering capital and risk, and managing the relationship between acquisition, design, delivery and long-term value.

More than letters after a name

Credentials matter, particularly when a client is considering entrusting a contractor with a substantial investment and their home.
But qualifications alone do not deliver a project or run a business. Credibility comes from combining professional standing with practical experience, commercial judgement, current responsibility and a willingness to be accountable.
