I am the Founder and Managing Director of Province Group, a Chartered construction company specialising in substantial private residential projects.
We deliver high-end new-build homes, major refurbishments and complex transformations for private clients, working alongside architects, interior designers and professional teams.
Province is deliberately focused rather than volume-driven. We take on a select number of substantial projects so that senior involvement, communication and quality control remain close throughout the build.
The homes we are entrusted with are often significant assets as well as deeply personal projects. Our clients need to know that the contractor understands both.
Owner-led by design
As Founder and Managing Director, I remain actively involved in the business and maintain oversight of the projects we undertake.
That does not mean attempting to do every job myself. It means making sure experienced leadership sits above the project, important issues are visible, commercial and programme decisions are understood and responsibility is clear.
For clients and professional teams, there should be no uncertainty about where ultimate accountability sits.
Pre-construction
A successful build starts well before the first trade arrives.
On substantial residential projects, unresolved design, procurement assumptions, incomplete information, long-lead items and unrealistic sequencing can become expensive once work is underway.
We therefore place considerable value on pre-construction: understanding the design, interrogating buildability, identifying risk, testing programme, coordinating information and establishing the decisions required before they become urgent.
Commercial clarity
A beautiful home still needs disciplined commercial management.
Scope, procurement, valuations, variations and cost decisions should be dealt with clearly and at the point when the client can still make an informed choice.
Complex residential work will evolve. The objective is not to pretend change will never happen; it is to manage it transparently and avoid unnecessary surprises.
Programme & delivery
A programme is a management tool, not simply a completion date.
Hundreds of activities, decisions, procurement periods and dependencies have to be coordinated across a substantial build. We use the programme actively to look ahead, identify pressure points and make sure information, materials and trades arrive when they are needed.
Quality
Exceptional finishes are the result of decisions made throughout the project.
Quality comes from the people appointed, the materials selected, the details resolved, the samples approved and the standard expected every day - not from a final inspection at the end.
Having started on the tools, I retain a strong appreciation for craftsmanship and for the difference between something that simply complies and something that has been properly considered and executed.
Communication
Clients should know what is happening with their project.
We believe in regular, straightforward communication with the client and professional team. If a decision is needed, explain it. If something changes, address it. If there is a problem, establish the options early enough to do something useful about it.
Good communication does not mean difficult conversations never happen. It means they happen at the right time.
The Province Standard
Our approach is built around close communication and active management: regular project meetings, direct communication between the relevant parties, updated programmes, early decision planning, proactive quality checks and clear pricing of variations before additional work proceeds wherever possible.
It is a practical system designed around one objective: giving the client confidence that the project is being actively managed.

Province represents the accumulated experience of my career in construction and business.
We want to be known not simply for exceptional finished homes, but for the standard of management, accountability and experience behind them.
